Synopsis

This course is designed to cover some current issues and developments of management in the 21st century. It will take the form of a seminar, open discussion and lectures relating to current issues developing within the science of management. The topics covered in this subject, include key concepts and issues in the following areas: change management; organizational learning and knowledge management; spirituality in the workplace; leadership ethics and values; human capital and HR issues; corporate culture and performance; diversity and multi-generations in the workplace and quality management issues. Prerequisite: None.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:

  1. Understand what contemporary management issues and challenges are in modern organizations;
  2. Apply relevant theories to critically examine contemporary management issues and formulate effective solutions to these issues;
  3. Effectively communicate concepts and arguments learned in contemporary management in a logical, coherent and engaging manner;
  4. Demonstrate interpersonal and teamwork skills in analyzing issues and challenges, and finding solutions from the secular and faith-based perspectives by integrating Christian faith and learning in the discussion of current development and management issues.
  5. Share organization’s best practices and challenges by providing solutions and recommendations to management based on the principles learned from the course through an organization paper.
